FAQ: Self-Study Clinical Learning Packages

What is a clinical learning package?

Clinical learning packages include recorded lectures and workshops from select AAFP clinical live courses throughout the year. Content is available in the following formats: CD, DVD or MP3. These materials are a great way to earn CME credit at your own pace, from the location you choose.

What items are included with each clinical learning package?

Along with the audio/video media, a printed syllabus is included with each package. The syllabus contains the speakers’ slide handouts in black and white. Each program also includes an online post-test for CME credit.

How long does it take to complete the clinical learning package?

Each recorded lecture is about 30 minutes, and each workshop is about one hour. If you are using the Board Review package for ABFM Board Examination preparation, it’s recommended that you complete the entire package and then go back to review the lectures before the exam. Allow yourself plenty of time for study and review.

Which electronic format do you recommend, audio or the DVDs?

It depends on how you learn best. If you learn best by listening, audio is the way to go. Also, if you have a long daily commute or like to listen to CME programming while you're doing other things, audio is best. If you learn best by watching, a DVD is probably the best choice for you.

How do I order a clinical learning package?

You can order our learning packages in a number of different ways. You can order via the AAFP's online catalog. Or call the AAFP Contact Center at 800-274-2237. If you’re attending a live course, you can review our products on site.
