AAFP Foundation Awards and Grants


These awards recognize chapter executives who are deemed to have made exceptional advances in furthering the strategic objectives of the Academy. This program assists AAFP members and staff, as well as constituent chapters, to identify, select and recommend appropriate forms of recognition for exceptional initiatives or efforts that benefit Family Medicine.

The AAFP Office of Governance tracks all awards given by the organization and maintains records of previous recipients, award citations and photographs of actual awards for reference.

  • Leadership in State Government Advocacy

    This award is given for outstanding contributions in improving a constituent chapter's advocacy efforts.

  • Chapter Membership Awards

    These awards recognize chapters for outstanding recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Executive Service Award

    This award recognizes chapter executives with 25 years of service.

  • Award of Merit

    This award recognizes people who have been deemed by the Board to have contributed, in a distinguished manner, toward advancement of family medicine.

  • Chapter Advocacy Day Assistance Grants

    This grant program assists small and medium chapters with planning and implementing a state-level lobby day for their members at their state capitol.
