Lynne M. Lillie, MD, FAAFP
Lynne M. Lillie, MD, FAAFP, a family physician in Rochester, Minnesota, is a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The AAFP represents 124,900 physicians and medical students nationwide.
As an AAFP board member, Lillie advocates on behalf of family physicians and patients nationwide to inspire positive change in the U.S. health care system.
Lillie has 20 years’ experience as a full-time practicing family physician. Lillie is currently a member of the Mayo Clinic Department of Family Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, and continues to see patients. She maintains a clinical focus on treating patients of all ages and enjoys doing gynecologic and dermatologic procedures. She has held leadership roles on multiple clinical committees that addressed clinical quality and practice redesign.
In addition to clinic practice, Lillie served for nearly five years as the medical director for Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minnesota, with accountabilities for clinical quality, patient safety and satisfaction, and physician engagement. In this role, Lillie was a champion for Family Medicine, ensuring pay equity for family physician hospitalists and leading efforts to improve coordination of care among hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms and post-acute care facilities.
Lillie has been involved in the AAFP at the national and state level since 1992. At the time of her election to the board of directors in 2014, she was serving as a senior delegate to AAFP and was on the AAFP Commission of Quality and Practice. She has previously served on multiple AAFP committees and commissions, including the New Physician Delegation to the AAFP Congress of Delegates and as the resident member on the board of directors. She has served in multiple roles at her state chapter, including chapter president.
Lillie received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College, Saint Peter, Minnesota, and her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth.
She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education.
