Rebecca Jaffe, M.D., MPH, FAAFP
Rebecca Jaffe, MD, MPH, FAAFP, is a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians, which represents 110,600 physicians and medical students nationwide.
As an AAFP board member, Jaffe advocates on behalf of family physicians and patients nationwide to inspire positive change in the U.S. health care system.
Jaffe has been a practicing family physician in Wilmington, Del., for more than 30 years. She currently owns and serves as managing partner of Rebecca Jaffe MD and Associates, a three-physician private practice specializing in family and sports medicine. Jaffe also serves as an instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and is a senior member of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington. She is one of five physicians on the Christiana Care Board of Directors.
An active member of the AAFP since 1983, Jaffe has served on numerous commissions and committees, including the Commission on Continuing Medical Education, the Commission on Health of the Public and Science, and the Committee on Communications. In addition, Jaffe has served as Delaware’s delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates for nearly 20 years.
At the state level, Jaffe is an active member of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians. She is a past president and has served on the Executive Committee since 1988. She also has served on the Education and Bylaws committees, and as the Delaware AFP’s state coordinator of FamMedPAC, the AAFP’s federal political action committee.
An active member of both her local and global community, Jaffe has served as a volunteer physician for the U.S. Olympic Committee, Team USA, caring for athletes both in the United States and abroad. She also served as team physician for St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington for 30 years.
Jaffe earned her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., and her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She completed her family medicine residency at Wilmington Medical Center. In addition, Jaffe earned a Master in Public Health degree from Drexel University, Philadelphia. Jaffe also has a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education.
