Donna Valponi

Senior Vice President, Communications and Membership

Donna Valponi joined the AAFP in 2005 and provides strategic oversight of the organization’s communications (marketing, news, public relations, web sites), membership, contact center, and meetings and conventions management initiatives. During her tenure, Valponi rebranded the organization, resulting in an 18% increase in membership.  She also established a Contact Center of 20 staff, who respond to over 130,000 phone calls and emails annually from members and customers.  Valponi is currently establishing a new vision for the organization’s annual flagship convention, attended by 10,000 physicians and exhibitors.

Prior to joining the AAFP, Valponi was vice president of marketing at Union Station Kansas City, leading a staff of 50 and directing the activities of the marketing and membership programs. Valponi’s responsibilities at Union Station included brand management, communications, public relations, advertising, and promotions.

Valponi held a variety of marketing positions during her tenure at Hallmark Cards, Inc., which included vice president of supplier development at, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Kansas City-based greeting card company. Her responsibilities included sales management, marketing and new business development.

Valponi is involved in a number of community activities in the greater Kansas City area, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.  She has also served on the boards of directors for the University Physicians Associates at Truman Medical Center, the KC Komen Race for the Cure, and the Shared Care Free Health Clinic.  She also served on the Starwood Hotels Meeting Advisory Board.

Valponi received a master’s in business administration from Rockhurst University in Kansas City.
