Free Monthly VITAS Webinars on End-of-Life Care

Free webinar from VITAS

What do physicians need to know about hospice and palliative services, goals of care conversations, advance directives and other issues that become more important as curative therapies become less effective?

VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s largest and oldest hospice care provider, offers a monthly series of webinars that cover everything from the ethics of end-of-life care to the palliation of pain. Put your patient in control. Help them understand the trajectory of their disease and their options at every step along the way.  VITAS can help.

Our curriculum is designed to increase physicians’ understanding of end-of-life care issues, and these webinars are also geared to health plan clinicians, nurses, social workers, case managers and other healthcare professionals.

The one-hour presentations are led by experienced, articulate hospice professionals. Attendees can learn the goals and objectives of each topic and the background of the presenter upon registering. Every presentation is followed by a synopsis emailed to each registered attendee.

Topics for May 11, 2017, and June 22, 2017, are “Reducing Readmissions & Length of Stay” and “Persistent Vegetative State,” respectively. Webinars continue monthly. Recent topics covered include “Deciding When Hospice Is Needed,” “Nutrition & Hydration” and “End-Stage COPD: Meeting Patients’ Challenges.”

For registered nurses, social workers, certified case managers and nursing home administrators: This course is approved for one continuing education credit hour, depending on state regulations. Attendance for the entire online webinar, as well as completion of a brief online survey, is required; certifications are made available after completion.
