Description of Program 

Our program offers several opportunities to do misisonary work during training. Residents can use do a one-month rotation in their PGY-3 year or spend a one-week vacation block to do missionary work throughout their three years here. Residents may join the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine missionary trips that are offered several times a year.

Location(s) of program: Africa, El Salvador, Brazil and Haiti.

Description of field experience: Work as a family physician seeing children and adults with acute and chronic medical problems.

Description of didactics: Residency does, from time to time, a session on travel medicine.

Cost to individual resident: Program provides $250 per trip from our Dr. Al Hagy Overseas scholarship fund. Other resources for scholarship may be possible.
