Description of Program

The St. Anthony North Family Medicine Residency Program has a 39-year tradition of training bright and compassionate Family Physicians. We have proudly worked to help our residents develop the traits of a well-rounded Family Physician, while bringing excellent care to the communities of Denver, Colorado. Our unopposed program finds balance in the training of inpatient and outpatient medicine and does not neglect the necessary balance between our professional and personal lives. We offer many international experiences.

Location(s) of program: Westminster, Colorado. This is a northwest suburb of Denver.

Description of field experience: Our residents have travelled the globe (with the exception of Antartica). Annually, the residency offers the Scott Spaeth Award to one resident, which gives money to that resident to do a rotation in a different country and to "broaden the horizons" of that resident's training.

Description of didactics: Didactics include "hands on" experience with many opportunities including language and cultural immersion.

Cost to individual resident: Varied; travel and lodging not covered by residency. The yearly winner of the Scott Spaeth Award may apply the scholarship towards travel and lodging.

Number of residents who have participated in the last two years: Seven

Description of faculty involvement: Two faculty members traveled to Haiti last year.

Does the program accept medical students for trips? No

Does the program accept residents from outside the program for trips? No

Approximate time of year/duration of trips: All times of the year (monthly rotations); 1/2 month to one full month at a time.
