Description of Program

The International Health Track consists of elective experience(s) in an underserved area or a course in tropical medicine, an evening seminar series, and global health noon conferences. We are one of the few such tracks that fully fund these experiences. We are also unopposed by other residency programs.

Location(s) of program: Any underserved area overseas or in the United States or Alaska. Residents arrange their sites with assistance and approval of the residency program.

Description of field experience: Two months of elective time are available for away rotations. This can be used as a block or in two separate periods of time. Residents can use as little as one to two weeks or the whole two months.

Description of didactics: Evening seminars occur eight to nine times yearly. A variety of global health topics are discussed by local, national and international speakers.

Cost to individual resident: Up to two rotations during residency are fully funded.

Description of faculty involvement: The International Health Track Coordinator assists residents in planning rotations, scheduling speakers, and editing a quarterly newsletter.

Does the program accept medical students for trips? No.

Does the program accept residents from outside the program for trips? No.
