Description of Program
St Vincent FM Residency encourages all residents to participate in global health activities. Residents are trained through an ongoing lecture series, journal club, and global health experiences. We focus on care for the underserved through our outpatient experiences here in Indianapolis; our global health training is a continuation in preparing our residents to care for underserved populations.
Location(s) of program: Lectures occur in Indianapolis, IN. Recently, faculty and residents have done medical work in Ecuador, Haiti, Argentina and Guatemala.
Description of field experience: Residents in their 2nd and 3rd year have the opportunity to participate in a global health trip. In the past, residents have organized their own month-long trips. In addition to this, we are partnering with a particular location in Central America to have an ongoing presence and impact within the community. The particular location will be established by Fall 2010.
