Provide education and support for the family medicine community on the many facets of Telehealth with a view toward enriching the practice of medicine and patient care when you join the Telehealth Member Interest Group (MIG). Better understand the views of AAFP members on Telehealth and identify questions, areas of concern, topics of interest, and create a forum for research, review, and discussion.

Objectives

  • Provide support and expertise to AAFP members interested in growing the practice and policies of Telehealth
  • Provide education and support for the family medicine community on the many facets of Telehealth with a view toward enriching the practice of medicine and patient care
  • Help formulate a vision to determine how Telehealth should be incorporated into the practice of family medicine to better serve patients in our local and virtual communities
  • Better understand the views of our members on Telehealth and identify questions, areas of concern, topics of interest, and create a forum for research, review, and discussion
  • Assist the AAFP in membership recruitment and retention of family physicians who are interested in Telehealth

Long-term Goals

The Telehealth Member Interest Group (MIG) will provide a forum for physicians interested in all aspects of Telehealth to meet, brainstorm, and work together to help this new sub-specialty serve both patients and physicians in our local and virtual communities.

The Telehealth MIG will help physicians:

  • Establish and promote Telehealth in all 50 states
  • Align with and promote the AAFP and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by helping to improve access, affordability, and quality health care for all
  • Advocate for and advance Telehealth public policy to influence policy makers
  • Provide resources for education and support
  • Connect with family medicine physicians who are interested in Telehealth
  • Enrich the practice of family medicine by applying the practices of Telehealth
