Family physicians are professionally prepared to participate in pre- and post-operative care based on their education and training. Pre- and post-operative care should be a coordinated agreement between the family physician and the primary surgeon. These care coordination services play a pivatol role in ensuring continuity of care for patients, enhancing health care access, improving quality, and controlling costs. (1979) (2013 COD)
