Cost-effectiveness is an integral element in the delivery of quality medical care nevertheless, the American Academy of Family Physicians opposes measures of cost per case or related utilization measures as the sole basis for terminating or excluding membership in healthcare organizations, such as hospitals or third-party insurance carrier networks.
