Most commonly, galactorrhea is idiopathic or caused by medications and prolactinomas. Treatment goals include decreasing or eliminating symptoms, curing any identified underlying cause, preventing bone loss, relieving the patient's anxiety and fears and, when desired, maintaining fertility and the ability to lactate.
