Complications Anticoagulation agents play an important role in preventing thromboembolic complications of atrial fibrillation. Heparin is routinely used in the pericardioversion period. Warfarin is preferred for chronic therapy in patients at high risk for thromboembolic complications. Aspirin therapy is appropriate in some patients. |
