PDF Available
About PDFs
T. GRANT PHILLIPS, M.D., ANDREW M. REIBACH, M.D., and W. PAUL SLOMIANY, M.D.

Snuffbox tenderness is highly sensitive for fracture; scaphoid compression pain and tenderness of the scaphoid tubercle are more specific tests. CME

893 Asthma Update: Part I. Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Prevention of Disease Progression
PDF Available
About PDFs
MATTHEW MINTZ, M.D.
Despite updated evidence-based guidelines from the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program, diagnosing and classifying patients with asthma remain challenging. Written action plans for patients are recommended, and monitoring of peak expiratory flow may offer further benefits. Inhaled corticosteroids are safe for use in children, but it is not known whether these agents can alter disease progression. CME

PDF Available
About PDFs
MICHAEL OSTAPCHUK, M.D., DONNA M. ROBERTS, M.D., and RICHARD HADDY, M.D.

The age of the child and the findings of the history and physical examination are the best information for diagnosing this illness and determining its cause. CME
