| 1061 | Asthma Update: Part II. Medical Management Updated guidelines for the treatment of asthma recommend inhaled corticosteroids as first-line treatment in all patients with persistent asthma. Other medications, such as cromolyn, theophylline, and leukotriene-receptor antagonists, should have a more limited role in the management of asthma. Combination therapy with an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta2 agonist is superior to all other combinations and to higher dosages of inhaled corticosteroids alone. |
