The patient information handout that accompanied the article "Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis" (May 1, 1998, page 2135) contained an error. In the first paragraph, the phrase "SCFE may occur in one or both legs" was omitted. This omission led to the implication that SCFE always occurs in both legs; SCFE is bilateral in only 25 to 40 percent of cases.
The byline of "Cultural Aspects of Caring for Refugees" (Medicine and Society, March 15, 1998, page 1245) contained an error. The second author's name is Lucinda R. Kahler, R.N., M.S.
A text box in the article "SIDS: Counseling Parents to Reduce the Risk" (April 1, 1998, page 1566) contained an error. The text box on page 1569 should read as follows: "Infants should be put to bed in a supine position on a standard mattress without pillows."
A text box in the article "Hyperparathyroidism" (April 15, 1998, page 1795) contained an error. The text box on page 1797 should contain the following statement: "A ratio of chloride to phosphate greater than 33 is suggestive of hyperparathyroidism."
