1753	Diagnosis and Treatment of Endometriosis CAROLINE WELLBERY, M.D. Endometriosis may cause dysmenorrhea or infertility in women of childbearing age. Interruption of ovulation with medication can provide pain relief, but surgery is required for definitive diagnosis. Surgery is also useful for treatment of infertile patients, as well as those with advanced disease or intractable pain.

Dyspepsia is commonly caused by peptic ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux, but more serious conditions, such as gastric and pancreatic cancers, should also be considered.
