ACIP Releases Guideline on Prevention of Pertussis, Tetanus, and Diptheria in Pregnant Women and Newborns
Two tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccines were licensed in 2005 for use in adults and adolescents in the United States. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that physicians weigh the theoretic risks and benefits before administering Tdap to pregnant women.
