Does the module fee cover the cost of MC-FP Part IV?

METRIC modules provide a valuable, convenient, and accredited method for completing the work necessary to fulfill the MC-FP Part IV requirement. In order to receive credit for this work for your Maintenance of Certification Part IV requirement, the American Board of Family Medicine requires an aditional fee. Please consult the ABFM website(www.theabfm.org) for more information.

How will the ABFM know that I’ve fulfilled my MC-FP Part IV requirement?

When the final step of Stage C has been completed in the online METRIC tool, you must complete the seven (7) evaluation questions to have your 20 CME credits applied. Your completion record will be electronically transmitted to the ABFM within 1 to 2 business days.

I don’t work in a traditional primary care setting. How do I complete MC-FP Part IV?

Diplomates who do not have continuity of care with patients (e.g., physicians working as hospitalists or in ERs) must complete a different type of Part IV activity through the American Board of Family Medicine(www.theabfm.org). The AAFP suggests family physicians who have questions about this issue contact the ABFM.

I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Will METRIC help me fulfill my MOC Part IV requirement?

Yes. The ABIM accepts completion of the METRIC program under the Self-directed PIM(www.abim.org) for MOC Part IV.

I work in a primary care or multi-specialty medical group. Can my colleagues and I complete the METRIC program as a group?

Multi-physician offices may register for METRIC as a group. This allows the group to join efforts for improving patient care by concentrating on specific quality improvement interventions. The group may also choose to view a group comparison report in addition to the individual assessment report. In order for each physician to receive CME credits, he or she must separately enroll in and complete the METRIC program.

You may request participation as a group by completing the Group Enrollment Form(3 page PDF) and email or fax the form to (913) 906-6102. A group must be activated before any of the participants complete their initial chart reviews.

Is it possible to download patient data electronically from my EHR into METRIC?

At this time, it is not possible to electronically upload or download data between METRIC and an EHR.

What is the METRIC fee for Residents to participate?

The following fees apply to Residents who are AAFP members:

3-13 Residents: $100
14-19 Residents: $125
20-25 Residents: $150
26+ Residents: $20

Includes group registration and standard tracking reports. One AAFP nonmember faculty for every ten (10) residents may participate at no charge. The fee for additional nonmember faculty participants is $125.00. The fee for all nonmember residents participating in a METRIC module is $125.00.

What does it mean to "reset" my module? Is there a fee?

To reset, rollback, edit, correct, modify, or amend any information and/or steps is to move you back to the prior step within your METRIC module. Contact AAFP if you need a reset of your module. A $75 charge for members and $150 charge for nonmembers is due at time of request. You may avoid this fee by ensuring that you have fully completed each step before progressing in the module.
