Co-Conveners: 2
Term: One-year only

Any active member of the AAFP who:

  • fits the definition for the constituency (those who self-identify as GLBT or who are supportive of GLBT issues);
  • is registered for and in attendance at NCCL;
  • and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.

International Medical Graduates (IMG)(2 page PDF)

Term: One-year only

Any active member of the AAFP who:

  • fits the definition for the constituency (those who have completed medical school outside of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico);
  • is registered for and in attendance at NCCL;
  • and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.

  • fits the definition for the constituency (defined as they are by the U.S. Census Bureau: African Americans, Asians, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, American Indian, Alaska Native, ethnic Latinos, other);
  • is registered for and in attendance at NCCL;
  • and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.

Term: One-year as Alternate Delegate followed by a One-year as Delegate

Any active member of the AAFP who:

  • fits the definition for the constituency (those who were first eligible for active membership in the AAFP less than seven years ago);
  • is registered for and in attendance at NCCL;
  • and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.

New Physician Board of Directors Candidate(2 page PDF)

Term: One-year only
AAFP Bylaws authorize the election of a candidate for the New Physician Director on the Board of Directors for a one-year term.

The requirements to run for the New Physician seat are as follows:

  • be an active member of the AAFP;
  • be first eligible for active membership in the AAFP fewer than seven years before being seated by the Congress of Delegates*, and are not currently nor have ever served as the Student, Resident, or New Physician Board member;
  • must have previously attended at least one NCCL;
  • must be in attendance at the NCCL during which they are running for the position;
  • submit a form declaring their candidacy accompanied by a curriculum vitae and a letter of endorsement from their chapter;
  • cannot run for other offices (New Physicians constituency Alternate Delegate, or AMA-YPS Delegate, or Board-approved constituency Co-Conveners) during the same NCCL.

*Residents who extend their training immediately upon completion of residency training are still considered residents and do not become active members until completion of their fellowship or extended training.

AMA-YPS (Young Physician Section)(3 page PDF)
Delegates: 2
Term: One-year only

Any active member of the AAFP who:

  • fits the definition for the constituency (first eligible for active membership in the AAFP less than seven years ago);
  • is a member of the AMA and meets the AMA-YPS criteria (under 40 years of age OR 8 or fewer years in practice);
  • AMA criteria must be met throughout the term of service, not just at the time of election;
  • must be registered for and in attendance at NCSC and conform to the expectations and regulations of the position.

Alternate Delegates: 6
Term: One-year as Alternate Delegate followed by one-year as Delegate

Any active member of the AAFP who:

  • has already been elected as one of the eight constituency Co-Conveners;
  • is registered for and in attendance at NCCL;
  • and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.
