Before becoming an associate director of a family medicine residency program in Akron, OH, Dr. Bachelder was a solo practice doctor in a rural community and operated a rural health clinic. Currently, he serves on multiple committees at Akron Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bachelder specializes in PCMH, EMRs, procedural medicine, obstetrics, and organized medicine. He serves on the AAFP Commission on Members and Member Services, and previously chaired the AAFP Commission on Quality. He participated in the AAFP’s Practice Enhancement Forum in March 2011 and has won the Torchlight Leadership Award (Ohio AFP), Philanthropist of the Year (Ohio AFP), NCQA Recognition (DM and Heart/Stroke), and Ohio Outstanding Team Physician Award (Ohio State Medical Association). At Assembly, he will be discussing practical solutions to common problems when starting a PCMH.
