Dr. Ballard lives in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he also practices hematology in a university medical center. He specializes in thrombotic and hemorrhagic diseases, hematologic malignancies, and medical humanities and is the author of numerous articles on a variety of topics including HIV, AIDs, thrombocytopenia, hemophilia, and leukemia. In addition to writing and presenting, Dr. Ballard is an ad hoc reviewer and consultant for several journals, including JAMA, Hemophilia, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and the Journal of Palliative Medicine. He has been teaching for 35 years
