Dr. Cuenca practices family medicine (excluding obstetrics) and sports medicine, and serves as site lead and in-house sports medicine consultant for his fellow Scripps physicians. He is the head team physician for Cal State University, San Marcos, and has taught for Western University of Health Sciences, the UCSD School of Medicine, and the Scripps Family Medicine Residency Program since 2008. Topics that interest Dr. Cuenca include primary care sports medicine and practice management. In 2013, Dr. Cuenca received the Scripps Health Quality Silver Award for "Making Medicare Wellness Visits Work in Practice" Project.
