Dr. LeFevre spends about 50 percent of his time in direct patient care, practicing the full breadth of family medicine, including inpatient and until recently obstetrics. Much of his emphasis in scholarly work has been in the area of evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines. He is currently the co-vice chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and serves on the Joint National Conference on the Prevention, Detection and Treatment of Hypertension (JNC 8). In 2011, he was named to the Institute of Medicine. He has spoken widely on evidence based preventive services. Also in 2011, he participated in the Men’s Health Network Prostate Cancer Roundtable on the topic of prostate cancer screening.
