Dr. MacDonald practices psychiatry San Diego, CA, where he sees psychiatric outpatients, patients in an outpatient recovery program, and research participants. He also serves as medical director of an outpatient substance abuse program. An assistant professor in the University of California Department of Psychiatry, he has been teaching for 10 years. His specialty topics include ADHD, substance use disorders, personality disorders, physician boundaries, and professionalism. Dr. MacDonald has been voted San Diego's top doctor by his peers for the last four years. He is a Fellow of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
