The Subcommittee on Assembly Learning invites you to submit one or more applications to present a session at the 2015 AAFP Assembly, September 29 – October 3, 2015, in Denver.
Session topics are drawn from the American Academy of Family Physicians’ (AAFP’s) CME Curricular Framework, which defines the core priorities supported by AAFP continuing medical education (CME) content. The AAFP’s curricular framework ensures that topics are clinically relevant, evidence based, and scientifically valid. AAFP CME activities provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on current practice trends, evidence-based medicine, and the delivery of high-quality, equitable, and cost-effective care.
Continuing medical education from the AAFP is developed to fill gaps in professional practice. These gaps are identified through needs assessments, which are a fundamental part of CME activity planning. The CME needs assessment process critically evaluates learners’ educational needs by identifying gaps in their knowledge, competence, and/or performance. Data from a variety of sources is analyzed to ensure that AAFP CME Credit System Guidelines.
Based on identified needs, educational learning objectives are developed for content that will address gaps in knowledge, competence, and/or performance. Outcome measures are selected to evaluate physician improvement following the CME intervention, and appropriate feedback is collected. Learners should be able to see improvement and identify additional educational opportunities that will facilitate improved performance and close remaining gaps. In addition, outcome measures and learner feedback are reviewed during the planning phase for future CME activities. This ensures that CME from the AAFP continues to meet learners’ needs effectively.
