Meet newly installed AAFP President Robert Wergin, MD, FAAFP at home with his family, friends, and patients in Milford, NE.
Hear Dr. Wergin discuss this incredible moment for health care in America, as well as the choices and tradeoffs still to be made. Learn about the new Health is Primary campaign to educate key decision-makers about the value of family medicine and primary care.
Meet the 2015 AAFP Family Physician of the Year Oscar Lovelace, who practices full-spectrum family medicine in the small town of Prosperity, SC.
Hear Dr. Lovelace describe his switch from veterinary school to family medicine because he loved the people more than their pets. His path was made known to him because "there is joy in the practice of family medicine–servant medicine–a healing force for good in our land."
One of the most poignant presentations during the 2014 AAFP Assembly was AAFP member Kent Brantly, MD's first-person account of contracting the virus while on a medical mission trip to Liberia. He spent 19 days in isolation at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and was near death when experimental medicine never before tested on humans resulted in almost sudden improvement. His address to a packed ballroom in Washington, DC, ended with a standing ovation from 3,500 of his peers. (45 minutes)
Practicing family medicine today can be both rewarding and frustrating. In these brief videos shot and edited on site in DC, hear about the challenges your colleagues face and how they address them. Learn what makes them proud to be a family doctor. And finally, enjoy their memorable and inspiring patient encounters.
