The University of Tennessee Department of Family Medicine in Knoxville invites graduates of a family medicine residency to apply to spend a year developing acute care emergency skills. The fellow will spend 9 months in the level one trauma center at UT Medical Center, Knoxville TN, 1 month on trauma surgery and 1 month in the MICU. One month of pediatric emergency training will take place at East Tennessee Children's Hospital located near UTMC. Fellows spend one shift per ED month with ground or helicopter pre-hospital care. A strong didactic program takes place weekly, as well as family medicine clinic.
