Some 2002 deadlines are looming for award nominations and proposals.

- You might have creative ideas for beginning a research project. Submit your proposal by Feb. 22 for a new Practice-Based Research Network Stimulation Grant for Family Practice Research. Contact: smorantz@aafp.org or Ext. 4470.
- AAFP's Public Health Award honors members who have made extraordinary contributions to public health. Submit your nomination by March 1. Contact: ncrossfi@aafp.org or Ext. 3142.
- The AAFP Awards for Graduate Education in Family Practice (formerly called the Mead Johnson Awards for Graduate Education in Family Practice) have an application deadline of March 1. The awards recognize second-year residents demonstrating leadership, community involvement and exemplary patient care. Contact: mgiocond@aafp.org or Ext. 6810.
- March 15 is the deadline for proposals for workshops, seminars, lectures, papers, poster displays and special interest discussions at the 2002 Conference on Patient Education Nov. 21 24 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Contact: mgoller@aafp.org or Ext. 3134.
- Encourage your chapter to submit nominations for the Thomas W. Johnson Award -- recognizing contributions in family medicine teaching at undergraduate, graduate and continuing education levels -- or the Exemplary Teaching Awards -- for excellence in teaching, implementing outstanding programs and/or creating innovative teaching models. - Chapters need to apply by April 15 for Matching Grants for Constituent Chapter Research Activities. Contact: bschoof@aafp.org or Ext. 3160.
