Rekindling student interest: What's the next step?

OK, the results of the University of Arizona's student interest study are in. Now what?

The Commission on Resident and Student Issues will take up the study results at its Jan. 17 - 18 meeting in Tucson, Ariz., said Deborah McPherson, M.D., assistant director of the AAFP Division of Medical Education.

"We'll be discussing the results in detail during our January meeting," said McPherson, staff executive to the commission. "We'll then begin communicating with other members of the family of family medicine on how best to collaborate with them to re-energize student interest in family practice."

Those member organizations are: American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, American Board of Family Practice, Association of Departments of Family Medicine, Association of Family Practice Residency Directors, North American Primary Care Research Group and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
