A new initiative, Experience the AAFP, offers discounts and special resources to members who completed residency within the past seven years. The program, designed to meet the specific needs of new physicians, will offer a selected resource or discount each year.
The initiative grew out of feedback received from new physician members through surveys, focus groups, recommendations from the National Conference of Special Constituencies and postings by the Academy's new physician e-mail discussion group.
"Many new physician members are searching for resources and CME to aid them as they enter into and become established in practice," said Timothy Linder, M.D., of Selmer, Tenn., chair of the Commission on Membership and Member Services. "The Academy wants to fill that need."
Throughout their first seven years out of residency, new physician members will receive pragmatic, practice-oriented information, CME packets and discounts appropriate to their career growth, including:
New physicians will receive information in the mail about the initiative throughout their first seven years after residency.
