Some family physicians moved into key leadership positions within the Academy during the Annual Assembly.
Mary Jo Welker, M.D., of Columbus, Ohio, has been named the at-large member of the Executive Committee of the AAFP Board of Directors.
The Board also announced new chairs of AAFP commissions and committees, as follows:
Commission chairs: Commission on Clinical Policies and Research -- Doug Campos-Outcalt, M.D., M.P.A., of Phoenix; Commission on Continuing Medical Education -- Thomas Bent, M.D., of Laguna Beach, Ca.; Commission on Education -- Colleen Conry, M.D., of Aurora, Colo.; Commission on Finance and Insurance -- Mitchell Miller, M.D., of Virginia Beach, Va.; Commission on Health Care Services -- Donnie Batie, M.D., of Baton Rouge, La.; Commission on Legislation and Governmental Affairs -- Timothy Alford, M.D., of Kosciusko, Miss.; Commission on Membership and Member Services -- Christine Stabler, M.D., of Lancaster, Pa.; Commission on Public Health -- F. David Schneider, M.D., of San Antonio; Commission on Quality and Scope of Practice -- David Flinders, M.D., of Provo, Utah; and Commission on Resident and Student Issues -- Mary Helen Morrow, M.D., of College Station, Texas.
