Wanted: research proposals from chapters, papers from residents

An AAFP commission is requesting proposals for the 1997 Matching Grants for Constituent Chapter Research Activities and encouraging residents to submit papers for the third annual Resident Scholars' Competition. The deadline for both programs is Dec. 2.

The matching grant program aims to stimulate research activities at the chapter level. A total of $25,000 is available annually from the Academy.

The scholars' competition papers should address research or present a scholarly discussion of any topic as it applies to the residency experience. The top three winners receive a certificate and a check for $300, $200, or $100 respectively. Up to seven papers will receive an "honorable mention" designation and certificate.

The AAFP Commission on Clinical Policies and Research sponsors both of the programs.

For more information or to obtain an application form for either program, contact Gail Jones in the AAFP Scientific Activities Division by e-mail at gjones@aafp.org or by phone at (800) 274-2237, ext. 5562.
