The Alliance for Health Reform, a bipartisan coalition, elected Robert Graham, MD, as secretary/treasurer Jan. 27.
The alliance aims to educate journalists, lawmakers, and public opinion leaders about the nation's health problems and trade-offs posed by various reform proposals. Dr. Graham, the Academy's executive vice president, has served on the alliance board since 1994.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, founded the alliance and is its chair. Sen. Bill Frist, MD, R-TN, a heart and lung transplant surgeon and the Senate's only physician, was recently elected vice president of the alliance.
