Cuddles for Kids helped needy children in Chicago
Chicago children and two Midwest communities were helped by the Assembly's Feed the Need and its new Cuddles for Kids program.
Cuddles for Kids collected new and like-new small stuffed animals for distribution to needy children in Chicago. The large collection box had to be emptied several times.
And for the sixth year, hungry, homeless, and needy people were assisted through Feed the Need.
The Interfaith Council for the Homeless in Chicago received donations of both money and goods. A monetary contribution also went to Harvesters in Kansas City, MO, as a show of gratitude to the city that has been home to the Academy for 50 years.
Assembly attendees participated in Feed the Need by purchasing a 50th anniversary lapel pin for a $10 donation.
Money from donations was divided evenly between Feed the Need and the AAFP Foundation's Resident Repayment Program.
SmithKline Beecham underwrote the cost of the lapel pins.
