AAFP: Your voice, your choice
If you belong to the AMA, vote this fall for the AAFP as the society that speaks for you.
In a process only one year old, the AMA is allowing specialty society delegations to the AMA House of Delegates to grow. Here's how: Each society has the traditional one delegate and one alternate. In addition, for each 2,000 members who vote for the society, it gains another delegate and alternate.
Last year, more than 9,000 physicians, residents, and fourth-year medical students voted for the AAFP, so the Academy now has five delegates and alternates. The AAFP Congress of Delegates decided last month that the Congress will elect some delegates and alternates, and the Board will appoint some.
You can vote for the AAFP in several ways:
- Telephone (888) 200-5309 toll-free.
- Fax your ballot to (773) 267-1642.
- Mail the ballot sent to you with the Oct. 13 American Medical News, the October Family Practice Management, or the Oct. 15 American Family Physician.
- E-mail to ballot@ama-assn.org to vote electronically.
However you vote, provide the Academy's code number, 060, and the 11-digit medical education number on your AMA membership card. If you don't have your card, call (800) 262-3211 for your number.
