Delegates choose Bruce Bagley, M.D., as the Academy's new president-elect
The Congress of Delegates chose Bruce Bagley, M.D., of Albany, N.Y., as the AAFP's president-elect Sept. 17.

After winning the race for AAFP president-elect, Bruce Bagley, M.D., introduced his wife, Anne, to the Congress of Delegates. He called her his friend, his loving critic, the person he cries with when things aren't going well. Turning to her, he asked, "Things are going pretty well today, aren't they?"
Richard Roberts, M.D., J.D., of Madison, Wis., and Michael Fleming, M.D., of Shreveport, La., ran unopposed and were re-elected as speaker and vice speaker of the Congress, respectively.
The three new AAFP directors are: Ross Black II, M.D., of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; James Martin, M.D., of San Antonio; and Jerry Rogers, M.D., of Moor-head, Minn.
The new resident Board member is Deborah McPherson, M.D., of Omaha, Neb. The new student Board member is Eddie Richardson of Austell, Ga.
The Congress chose three finalists from a field of six candidates in the race for an Academy position on the American Board of Family Practice Board of Directors. The three finalists are: Christine Anderson, M.D., of New Baltimore, Mich.; Ronald Christensen, M.D., of Anchorage, Alaska; and Thomas Norris, M.D., of Seattle.
The ABFP board will choose a new board member in April 1999 from among the three finalists, and the member will serve for five years.
Finally, the AAFP Congress elected four new AAFP alternate delegates to the AMA: Philip Briggs, M.D., of Santa Fe, N.M.; Patrick Harr, M.D., of Maryville, Mo.; Glen Johnson, M.D., of Houston; and Jerry Martin, M.D., of Bowling Green, Ky.
