AAFP offers research grants to chapters, residents

Matching Funds for Constituent Chapter Research. Matching grants totaling $35,000 is awarded annually for chapter research activities, particularly projects promoting research involving community-based physicians, students and residents. Applications are to be submitted by the chapter research committee chair and the chapter executive. They are due to the AAFP by Dec. 2. Resident Scholars Competition. A total of $600 is awarded annually, recognizing resident achievement in research and scholarly activity. Each applicant must be the first author and may submit only one application. The paper may present research or a scholarly discussion of any topic addressed as part of the residency experience, and the research must have been done during residency. Each paper will be judged on research design or acceptable presentation of a scholarly topic, originality of research or scholarly topic, adequate literature reviews, relevance to family practice and excellence in writing. There is no restriction on the length of the paper or the number of authors. Applications are due to the AAFP by Dec. 2.
