Outstanding scientific exhibits honored
The Committee on Scientific Program has selected four exhibits to receive the Outstanding Exhibit Award, provided travel grants to 12 family practice residents and students exhibiting at the meeting, and awarded additional cash prizes and certificates to the top four resident/student exhibits.
Outstanding Exhibit Awards went to:
- "Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- National Center for Infectious Diseases."
- "NIDDK Information Clearing-houses."
- "International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders."
- "Agency for Health Care Policy and Research."
- top resident and student exhibits were:
- First place -- "Prevalence of Domestic Violence in an Urban Family Practice Setting." Exhibitor: Christina Stetcher, University of Minnesota/ Duluth School of Medicine.
- Second place -- "Common Foot Problems Encountered in Family Medicine." Exhibitor -- Todd Sommer, D.O., D.P.M., Mayo Family Medicine Residency, Rochester, Minn.
- Third place -- "Popular Herbal Therapies: Perspectives for the Family Physician." Exhibitors: Michelle Olson, M.D.; Emily Onello, M.D.; and Lynn Kelley, M.D., all from the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, Minn.
- Fourth place -- "Danger in the Motor City -- Misuse of Carseats." Exhibitors: Anjana Barad, M.D., and Wendy Moller, M.D., Providence Hospital Family Practice Residency, Southfield, Mich.
