AAFP bestows honors, recognizes achievements
Each year, the
Academy bestows honors and awards on its members and others during the Annual
Assembly. The following awards were presented during the 2004 Assembly.
- 2005 Family Physician of the Year - Richard Paris, M.D., of
Hailey, Idaho
- Honorary Membership - Anita Taylor, M.A., Ed., of Portland,
Ore.
- John G. Walsh Award for Lifetime Contributions to Family
Medicine - David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., of Jonesboro, Ga.
- Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family
Medicine Education - Alfred Berg, M.D., M.P.H., of Seattle
- Exemplary Teaching Awards - Wanda Gonsalves, M.D., of Mount
Pleasant, S.C. (full-time faculty); William Mebane III, M.D., of Wyndmoor, Pa.
(part-time faculty); and Daniel Spogen, M.D., of Sparks, Nev. (volunteer
faculty)
- Public Health Award - Bruce "Ned" Calonge, M.D., of Denver
- Robert Graham Family Physician Executive Award - Bruce "Ned"
Calonge, M.D., of Denver
- Humanitarian Award - Stuart Embury, M.D., of Holdrege, Neb.
