At the close of the 2014 AAFP Assembly, Academy EVP and CEO Doug Henley, M.D., strode on stage one last time to deliver a surprise announcement.
In dramatic fashion, Henley tore off his jacket to reveal a black t-shirt emblazoned with a striking new logo: FMX.
That's right: Starting in 2015, the premier family medicine event of the year will be known as FMX, or the Family Medicine Experience.
According to Henley, next year's meeting promises to have more CME options, expanded discussion topics and lots of interactive sessions where FPs can meet face-to-face with colleagues.
"You love to network," Henley said. "You love to learn in different ways. It will be a better experience with better CME."
The 2015 event is scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 3 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Registration will open in March.
"We're evolving this meeting to better serve you," said Henley. "Join us next year in Denver."
