The program, which is scheduled for April 26-27 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, trains physicians to be leaders in tobacco control advocacy. All applicants, including residents, who are interested in or already advocating policies that support tobacco control, protect nonsmokers and provide better access to tobacco cessation services in their states and communities are encouraged to apply.

Applicants selected to participate in the program will be provided coach airfare and hotel accommodations for a maximum of two nights. Typed applications must be submitted via e-mail no later than 4:00 p.m. CST on Friday, Jan. 18. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

The joint training workshop will offer a mix of panel presentations and small breakout groups. It is sponsored by the AAFP in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

Interested FPs are encouraged to e-mail AAFP tobacco control manager Pam Rodriguez for more information.
