Free Physician Webinar: Learn How to Negotiate a Better Contract

Family physicians looking for employment, renegotiating an existing employment contract or on the hunt for physician employees will be interested in a free webinar( presented by TransforMED's Delta-Exchange network on Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. CDT.


The webinar, which is titled "Getting All You Deserve in an Employment Contract," will be moderated by Peter Cebulka, the director of recruiting, development and training for Merritt Hawkins, a nationally recognized physician staffing and consulting firm. During his decade with Merritt Hawkins, Cebulka has recruited more than 100 physicians and clinical medical directors to key positions in facilities in 12 states.

He also serves on the faculty for the executive education program at the University of Florida in Gainesville. "For the last 10 years, I've been actively recruiting for family medicine physicians, and, on a daily basis, I talk to family physicians looking for new jobs. I describe the market to them, and help them find the right opportunities," said Cebulka in an interview with AAFP News Now.

During the one-hour webinar, Cebulka will discuss

  • factors that currently drive contract trends for family physicians nationwide,
  • metrics for productivity and quality-based incentives in an employment contract,
  • fair market value compensation figures,
  • general employment considerations, and
  • specific contract clauses typical in physician employment agreements.

"I can present the issues in a way that's digestible and gets at the heart of the information physicians are looking for," said Cebulka. The negoiation topic "affects how physicians function on a daily basis because it affects their families' income," he added.

Cebulka plans to leave plenty of time to answer participants' questions. As always, the webinar will be archived and available for viewing at a later date for physicians unable to participate in the live event.
