The AAFP has the answer for physicians with lingering questions about CMS' Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Tune in on Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. CST for a one-hour webinar titled "Understanding PQRS: Earn a 2013 Bonus and Avoid Related Penalty."
Registration for this free event now is open(transformed.adobeconnect.com). Webinar cohosts are Kent Moore, the AAFP's senior strategist for physician payment, and Adriann Polasky, director of provider products for CECity(info.cecity.com), with whom the AAFP has partnered to offer family physicians the PQRS Wizard, a PQRS reporting tool(www.pqrswizard.com).
For her part, Polasky will explain the value of the PQRS Wizard and demonstrate how to use it.
Moore, already known to many AAFP members as an expert on physician payment issues, has been immersed in payment topics for 25 years, including five years with CMS and nearly 20 more with the AAFP.
"I have spent all that time focusing on physician payment issues, and PQRS is directly related to payment in terms of earning extra money or avoiding getting dinged with a penalty," said Moore.
He will focus on helping physicians thoroughly understand the specifics of PQRS. "If they don't know what PQRS is going in, they'll have a better understanding coming out," he told AAFP News Now.
A key point Moore intends to hammer home is that it's not too late for physicians to potentially earn an incentive payment for work done in 2013. "And the flip side of that is it's not too late to avoid getting penalized in 2015," he added.
