(LEAWOOD, Kan. and New York, NY ) - Annals of Family Medicine, a new, peer-reviewed primary care research journal, announced that it will partner with Medscape from WebMD (www.medscape.com), the leading source of online medical information and educational services for physicians and healthcare professionals, to provide global access to the latest research findings affecting primary care.

Beginning with the May/June inaugural issue of the Annals of Family Medicine, Medscape will post select research articles, including studies from the clinical, biomedical, social and health services sciences.  Medscape has more than 575,000 physician registrants and more than two million registered healthcare professionals.

"At a time when our health care system is increasingly fragmented, the Annals seeks ways to bridge the boundaries between disciplines and to integrate patient care," said Kurt Stange, M.D., Ph.D, editor of Annals. "We are excited to be a part of Medscape's unique, cross-disciplinary portal and to provide healthcare professionals from all walks of medicine access to medical information essential to understanding and improving primary care."

"The addition of Annals content to Medscape will further enrich our content offering for physicians," said Steve Zatz, M.D., Executive Vice President, Professional Information Services, WebMD Corporation.  "Primary care physicians play a critical role in the lives of millions of Americans.  We are committed to ensuring that healthcare professionals have access to the latest primary care-related research."

The partnership with Medscape complements the Annals' existing online presence, which includes free access to the entire contents and interactive online discussion groups.
