Delegates Shower Orphanage With Gifts

Children hopped and skipped around the Ramani Village Orphanage near Baku today as Physicians With Heart delegates passed out balloon animals, candy and Polaroid pictures of the children themselves. The party was part of the delegates' efforts on behalf of the orphanage, a project similar to nonmedical humanitarian initiatives of recent Physicians With Heart trips.

"Look at me!" A little girl at the Ramani Village Orphanage near Baku showed off her Polaroid picture, taken by a Physicians With Heart delegate.
The delegates also brought winter coats for the 35 children and a washer and dryer, laundry supplies, toiletries and seeds.

AAFP Board spouses requested donations of underwear, socks and cash for the project at Academy meetings earlier this year. Residents and students at AAFP's National Conference this summer contributed toys, and the AAFP and AAFP Foundation staffs donated toiletries and underwear. The AAFP Foundation International Fund covered some costs for the project.
