Mission
The mission of "Physicians With Heart" – a partnership between the American Academy of Family Physicians, the AAFP Foundation, and Heart to Heart International – is to mobilize resources to improve health, provide medical education and to foster the development of Family Medicine worldwide.
Vision
The vision of the "Physicians With Heart" project is to sponsor an annual humanitarian project for AAFP members, pharmaceutical representatives and other non-medical representatives of Family Medicine. This annual project is accomplished by:
- Procuring appropriate pharmaceutical products and medical supplies;
- Providing transportation to deliver and document the receipt of the product at its destination;
- Providing medical education to the recipient medical personnel;
- Providing education in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSOÒ) to lower maternal and infant mortality rates in the recipient country; and
- Providing hope, hugs, and much needed supplies to local orphanages and children's hospitals.
