Description of Program
Multiple opportunities for public health experiences with a clinical component in Latin America, India and Africa. We have regular training sites in India (Herbertpur) and Mozambique (Beira), and varied sites in Latin America.
Location(s) of program: Recent residents have worked in Latin America, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru and India.
Description of field experience: Experience depends on the preceptor. Where there is a board-certified family physician (India, Mozambique), residents do clinical rotations with an optional public health experience; where there is no family medicine preceptor, the experience is public health.
Description of didactics: Self-designed.
Cost to individual resident: Professional development allowance helps pay for travel; there is no specific travel stipend.

Description of faculty involvement: Dr. Jeff Leman is on-site faculty in Herbertpur, India. Dr. Peter Millard is on-site faculty in Beira, Mozambique. Various faculty members in Bangor mentor international experiences.

Approximate time of year/duration of trips: Usually 4 to 6 weeks, depending on availability of elective and away time.
